Clinic-Based ABA Therapy in Fort Collins

At Attain SLB, therapy happens in a space designed for kids: safe, welcoming, and built around play. Your child works with a supportive team, guided by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), to build communication, social, play, and daily living skills that matter in everyday life.

Is Clinic-Based ABA a Good Fit for Your Child?

It may be a good fit if your child:

  • Is between birth and 18 years old. We work with children with a variety of diagnoses, such as autism (ASD), ADHD, and anxiety. Not sure if your child qualifies? Call us and we’ll walk you through it.
  • Could use support with communication, play, social skills, or daily routines
  • Would do well learning in a structured, kid-friendly space alongside skilled therapists
  • Has a family who wants a team that explains what they’re doing and why

Not sure? Talk with us. We’ll tell you honestly whether we think Attain is the right fit, and if it isn’t, we’ll help you think through what might be.

What a Day at Attain Can Look Like

Every child’s day is different. Here is the general rhythm:

  • Arrival and hello. A warm, unhurried start with a familiar face.
  • Play and connection. Time to settle in and do something your child enjoys.
  • One-on-one teaching. A mix of learning through play and more structured one-on-one practice, matched to your child’s plan.
  • Snack and lunch. Breaks to eat and recharge are scheduled through the day.
  • Group time. Social activities like circle time and arts and crafts are scheduled throughout the day, so your child gets practice being with other kids.
  • Handoff with you. You hear what went well and what we’re working on next.

How We Teach

Learning through play. We teach skills in the natural context where they’re used, like asking for a turn during a game or joining a friend at play.

Structured practice, when it helps. Some skills, like new words, are easier to learn in short, focused, one-on-one practice. We use structured teaching when it helps your child, and we keep it fun and motivating.

Small steps. Big skills get broken into small steps, and progress at each step gets noticed and celebrated.

How We Approach Challenging Behavior

Challenging behavior is communication. We don’t just try to stop a difficult behavior. We work to understand what your child is communicating and teach safer, more useful ways to get that need met.

We use the least restrictive approaches, and we focus on rewarding positive alternatives. Your child’s safety and dignity come first.

You’re Part of the Team

You know your child better than anyone. We share what we’re seeing, what we recommend, and why, and your goals shape the plan. Progress updates and parent meetings happen weekly and/or monthly. A BCBA supervises your child’s case every week.

Want to carry what works at the clinic into home life? Learn about our Caregiver Training. Some families also choose in-home ABA therapy, which we offer anywhere in Colorado. You can combine clinic and in-home sessions, or switch between them as your child’s needs change. Being flexible is one of the things we care about most.

Common Questions

Is ABA only for autism?+

No. ABA is most often used to support autistic children, but at Attain we work with children ages 0 to 18 with a variety of diagnoses, such as autism (ASD), ADHD, and anxiety. Not sure if your child qualifies? Call us and we’ll walk you through it.

What does my child’s first week look like?+

First, you talk with us and tell us what’s going well, what’s hard, and what you want life to look like. Then your child gets to know us. Assessment isn’t just testing; the goal is for your child to feel safe, have fun, and want to come back. Next, your BCBA explains what was observed, what’s recommended, and why, and we build the plan together.

How many hours a week will my child need?+

There’s no one-size-fits-all number. Many providers cap hours; Attain doesn’t set a limit of its own. Your child’s BCBA recommends hours based on the assessment and what your child needs, and your insurance authorization still plays a part in the final number.

What if my child gets upset or doesn’t want to come?+

Feeling safe comes first. We build trust and rapport before we ask for more, and we move at your child’s pace. If something isn’t working, we want to know so we can change our approach.

How involved will I be?+

Very. You’re part of the treatment team. Progress updates and parent meetings happen weekly and/or monthly. You’re also welcome to observe clinic sessions. We don’t have observation windows, so you’d join the session directly or watch a video of it. Just let your child’s clinician know you’re planning to come, and you can shadow a session at any time.

Is there a waitlist?+

No. Attain has no waitlist. When sessions start depends on your family’s availability and our staff’s schedule at the times you want, and our team works to get your child started quickly.

Do you accept my insurance?+

We accept Aetna, UMR, Health First Colorado (Colorado’s Medicaid program), Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and Optum. If yours isn’t listed, contact us and we’ll tell you what your options are.
