About Milliken
Milliken is named for John D. Milliken, a judge. It grew out of a railroad trading post for farm goods, opened its post office in 1909, and was incorporated in 1910, the same year it annexed nearby Hillsboro. Two pieces of local history kids may like: the two-room Daniels School, built in 1911, taught grades 1 to 8 until 1959 and is now on the National Register of Historic Places, and the nearby Dent site was the first place to give evidence that early people hunted mammoths. The Milliken Public Library is now in part of Milliken Intermediate School. In-home ABA is available in Milliken and in nearby Johnstown, Platteville, and LaSalle.
