Getting Started From Longmont
Longmont Schools and Families
Longmont is home to St. Vrain Valley Schools, which serves northern Boulder County and parts of Larimer and Weld counties, with about 31,800 students in 54 schools in 2023–24. If your child is in school, we can plan sessions around the school day, and Attain coordinates with school teams, including teachers and IEP meetings.
About 99,800 people live in Longmont, according to the Census Bureau’s 2024 estimate, including about 18,700 children under 18 (American Community Survey, 2020–2024). In-home ABA is also available in nearby Berthoud, Firestone, Frederick, Mead, and Lyons, as it is everywhere in Colorado.
About Longmont
Longmont is named after Longs Peak, which is clearly visible from the city (“mont” is French for mountain). It was founded in 1871 by settlers from Chicago as the Chicago-Colorado Colony, and its first streets were laid out in a grid within one square mile. St. Vrain Creek flows just south of downtown, and the paved St. Vrain Greenway follows it for about 8 miles, from Golden Ponds Nature Area to Sandstone Ranch. The Longmont Public Library at 409 4th Ave has a Children’s & Teens’ Services desk, and the Longmont Museum at 400 Quail Road offers programs and classes for children.
