Laporte, first spelled La Porte, is a small unincorporated community in Larimer County, ZIP code 80535, with 2,409 residents in the 2020 Census. Its name means “the door” in French. Fur trappers built cabins along the Cache la Poudre River here as early as 1828, making it the first settlement in Larimer County.
