ABA Therapy With UMR in Fort Collins, CO
Yes, Attain SLB accepts UMR for ABA therapy. Children and teens ages 1 to 18 can get care at our Fort Collins clinic or at home anywhere in Colorado, without a waitlist. A UMR plan is set up by your employer, so what it includes varies, and we verify your benefits with you before the assessment.
UMR isn’t your insurance company, and that matters
UMR describes itself as a third-party administrator hired by your employer to process claims. In UMR’s own words, it is not an insurance company, and your employer pays the portion of health care costs not paid by you. UMR is part of UnitedHealthcare.
For ABA, that usually means your employer’s plan, not UMR, sets the rules: whether ABA is included, what approval it needs, and any limits.
Does Colorado’s autism law apply?
It depends on how your employer funds the plan. Colorado’s autism requirement (Section 10-16-104 (1.4), C.R.S.) applies to fully insured plans regulated by the Division of Insurance, and the state’s Legislative Council staff note that self-funded plans are not subject to Colorado’s mandated benefit laws. That doesn’t mean ABA is left out of your plan. It means your plan documents hold the answer.
Questions worth asking HR
- Does our plan include ABA therapy?
- Does ABA need prior approval?
- Are there limits on hours or visits?
- Where can I read the plan document (often called the Summary Plan Description)?
You don’t have to sort this out first. We check your benefits for you either way.
Care close to home
Our clinic, at 1224 E. Elizabeth St in Fort Collins, serves families from Fort Collins, Loveland, Windsor, Greeley, Timnath and Wellington. Families elsewhere in Colorado get therapy at home, after school or full day. Many families mix clinic and home sessions, and you can switch between them as needs change. A Board Certified Behavior Analyst plans and supervises each child’s therapy.

Usually your employer. UMR is a third-party administrator hired by employers, so your plan documents spell out ABA benefits. We check them for you before the assessment.
Colorado’s mandates apply to fully insured plans regulated by the Division of Insurance. Self-funded employer plans aren’t subject to them. Your HR team can tell you which kind you have.
We have no waitlist. Once your UMR benefits are verified and any approval your plan needs is in place, we schedule sessions.
